If I were president, what would I hope to change?
Call me a communist but if I were president the first thing I would want do would be to make sure that every person had the bare necessities. Everyone would have a place to live and food to eat/water to drink and access to a quality education. I would make sure teachers were paid a large salary. We would cease using plastic and use more sustainable materials like hemp. Weed and any other type of naturally occurring plant would of course be legal. And anyone that was in jail for having any of these plants would be set free. There would be less buildings , more parks and nature. Everyone would have to do their part to help protect the environment. Less roads, more bike lanes.
I would encourage more community programs/ community events. That way communities will become closer and form connections like people used to when technology wasn't so present and we had to go out and meet our neighbors or else we wouldn't have any friends. Every town would have and encourage people to shop at farmers markets. Which is how the majority of people would make money. They will provide a service or a good. No large corporations because local shopping would be encouraged and rewarded. The people control where the money goes. Right now corporations are so prevalent and powerful because everyone spends their money with them. If everyone shopped local the majority of the money would be stay in the community.
Tax money would go to paying the teachers, parks, and, education (without standardized testing). Teachers being people sharing the knowledge with others.
Obviously, this would all be only in my first 100 days. Much more positive changes would be to come.
Because everyone's basic needs are met, and you have such a large supportive community there would be less crime and less suicide. Because many more people are shopping local, there are far less deaths from health conditions. Because there are less roads, there are less car accidents.
Of course things aren't simple and while there are not many things that I'm convinced that I could ever be, I'm almost certain I'd never be the president. In fact, If I were ever to be elected president I'd get rid of the roll of president. Why would we ever believe that it would be a good idea to elect one individual with their own skewed vision of the world to wake all the most important decisions that effect everyone?
