What does love mean to me?
Love to me is the pinnacle of all. The reason we are alive. To feel loved and to love is the greatest feeling of all. Love is such in intangible concept. We can't really translate it in to words. We just know that we have a deep and longing desire to feel it, to feel that connection to others.
To be more specific to my own life, I experience love on a daily basis. The way my kids look at me, the way that they just want to be around me, the way that they tell me that they love me 100x's a day. The love between mother and child is perhaps the greatest love of all. We were after all, at one point connected to one another. How much closer can you be to a person? I birthed them and would do anything for them, and love them unconditionally. The truest form of unconditional love. They could do anything and at the end of the day I'd still love them more than anything. Love is putting the needs of others before your own and mothers take the gold when it comes to selflessness.
As far as romantic love, things get a little more complicated. Romantic love does not happen so easily. In the beginning it does, I wouldn't necessarily consider that love though. Thats more of the lust/infatuation stage. Romantic love comes once the easy part is over. When you learn to appreciate a person for everything that they are and everything that they are becoming. It's so difficult at times because that person is always around and their way of being often conflicts with your way of being, but giving another person the space to grow and be themselves while supporting them, is love. It's easy to get frustrated with a person because they are not the way that you want them to be but your differences are the way we help each-other grow as people. You have a best friend. Some one who is always there for you. Someone you can tell everything to and they just understand you. Someone who goes through all the trials of life with you. It's unlike any other connection I've experienced. My man knows me like no one else does.
Love will heal the world. I truly believe it. It's the only thing that transcends time and matter.
