Thought Planes
Oh hey, it's me procrastinating again. Typing this at 11:21, but better late than never, right?
Today and most days I'm struggling with something that almost all people struggle with, and that is overthinking. It seems like such s simple concept, just stop thinking, but my thoughts get the best of me sometimes. I like to refer to these thoughts as "thought planes" and my mind like a airport in which thoughts or "planes" are constantly flying in and out of. It's chaos and there's not really any way of controlling these thought planes . They come and go as they please, sometimes it's truly quite tormenting.
If you're like me and you have this constant stream of thought rather it be worrying or stress, or just useless and pointless thoughts, you probably know how much of a damper this can put on your day. i feel like a lot of the time I'm not able to be present for my kids because I'm so caught up in my thoughts.
This blog is in no way advice for people who too suffer from this problem. It is simply expressing a serious issue that I'm dealing with and I'm searching for a way to overcome this. All advice is welcomed.
I read an awesome awesome book by Eckhart Tolle called The Power of Now, and it discusses how to Silence the mind and become present in the moment at the drop of the hat. The book helped tremendously with this issue for me but it obviously didn't cure it. I still find myself in a frustrating thought stream on a daily basis.
The best advice i can give myself as I chug along through this issue is , "what will be, will be. Thinking about it won't make it unbe. So just sit back and enjoy the ride."
